PRO TIP: Water Shut-Off Valve Check

🚰 PRO TIP: Water Shut-Off Valve Check

Shut-off valves are critical in emergencies — but only if they work. Make sure yours are ready:

🛠️ Test Annually

  • Turn each valve fully off, then back on.
  • If it sticks, lubricate or replace it.

💧 Know the Main Shut-Off

  • Locate your main water shut-off before you need it.
  • Label it clearly so anyone in the house can find it fast.

🚿 Check Fixture Valves

  • Test valves under sinks, behind toilets, and near appliances.
  • Replace any that are corroded or won’t close fully.

🧯 Bonus Tips

  • Keep a wrench nearby if your shut-off requires one.
  • If your shut-offs haven’t been checked in a long time they may be siezed.  Don’t force them or they may break!

👉 Remember: Shut-off valves are critical in emergencies — but only if they work.
